Mount Mazama: oxygen please!
We headed south to Crater Lake on Saturday due to fabulous weather in the forecast and no snow on the rim road. Mandy and I had never been down there so it didn’t exist. The drive took longer than Steve had anticipated but we made it in time to drive the rim road and do a hike down to the lake itself.
You cannot really describe what it’s like but I’ll try anyway. As it happened...
Crater Lake here we come!
Today we are headed South to Crater Lake. Mandy and I have never been. I’m so excited! There will be very cool pictures taken, some camping done, and some wine drank. Then only this that doesn’t work out perfectly is the Eagles game will be missed. But trade offs are necessary sometimes.

Bikes without beer: Champoeg State Park
In the interest of getting out of town to avoid yard work, Steve, Jessi and I hooked the bikes to the back of the Subaru and headed south to Champoeg State park. The park includes part of the Willamette Valley bike trail and has some beautiful land along the river. The ride was only 14 miles or so, and with the exception of the descent (read: giant hill back up) into Butteville, mostly flat. ...

Pint Night: Tack-tastic!
This past Friday we all headed over to the Space Room Lounge on Hawthorne. I have to admit I was not excited about this one. I have expectations for my pint nights and good food is one of them. But Les was super excited about this place for some reason so we went along with it.
When you walk into the bar area you are immediately sent into pitch black nothingness. There are some lights but...

Foozing through PDX: Again...
This past Saturday we enjoyed a lovely day in Portland. The best part is that we did not intend for foozing (boozing and fooding) to happen but it did. It all began with a good breakfast at home but quickly progressed into something fun.
First we hit up Belmont Station for the Imperial IPA fest. They had Laurelwood Green Elephant on tap. Mandy had already tried twice to have this beer and they...

Orval at Belmont: Caution! History content
Les was a bit geeked out when he saw the notice in the Oregonian that there would be a representative from Orval at Belmont Station talking about the beer and giving free glasses to the first bunch who purchased two bottles of the stuff. I had no history with this particular brew. Les had tried it many years ago at the Rongovian Embassy in Trumansburg, NY and at the time it was the most...

Laurelwood Collaboration Dinner
It’s finally here, an event that Jessi and I have been looking forward to for weeks now. Laurelwood was hosting a collaborative brewers dinner with 3 other breweries at their NW location. Eight courses, nine beers and 70 people. The event was so big they closed the whole restaurant for it! In the spirit of collaboration, Jessi and I are going to do a tag team blog. Mandy- We sat down and...
seen on a menu at a place with a mechanical bull: “never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly.” for reals?
Recovery
Still recovering from last nights massive intake of food and beer. Thank God for Excedrine and water.
Must be okay for pint night a tack-tastic Space Lounge (or something like that) on Hawthorne. Hmmmm….

Pint night Laurelwood: the rematch
After the “debacle” at the Laurelwood public house in Battle Ground, we were eager to wash away the memory with one of the Laurelwoods close to home. This Pint Night we hit the big one on Sandy and it was amazing. The A/C felt great on a slightly toasty day, although Steve wanted to eat on the roof, which was closed for a private event. I was lucky enough that I could bike there from work,...
Now at the Lotus. Steve needs food…

Here we are at Belmont station drinking Laurelwood. Again.
I just had some cheese that is basement-y… in a good way.

Pint Night! @Laurelwood
Headed to Laurelwood on Sandy for dinner. We get to spend our gift card that was the result of our Battle Ground experience. We touched on it only briefly since it seemed like a weird occurance. The customer service afterwards was great.
I’m sure this time will be much better. plus I need some more stickers for my new water bottle.
Pint Night is awesome!

Brew times Two
We were almost forced to make a difficult decision on Saturday. Hopworks was having the annual Biketobeerfest AND Green Dragon was hosting the Nanofest for small breweries. In a flash of genius (or perhaps lunacy) we opted for both. The HUB event, as you may have guessed, is intended for people to bike to. They close off their parking lots and make them bike only parking. The back parking...
