Foozapalooza
So I totally left you hanging after the Olympic Provisions thing didn’t I?  Blame shopping procrastination and mailing things out east.  Sorry.   Anyhoo, we have been wanting to hit Produce Row for a while, and lucky us, it’s right near Olympic Provisions.  I must confess, Jessi knew more about this place than I did, but still I’m always game to try someplace new.   We were pretty stuffed so...

Pint Night at East Burn
Last Friday we headed out to East Burn to use Mandy’s Groupon. Apparently it has been burning a hole in her pocket since she bought it. It was a nice addition to the payment part of the evening since it ended up being about 25% off our bill.  I really like East Burn. We have attended a beer dinner and have done some drinking there before but this was the first time for Happy Hour. Beer...

Brewers Brunch at the Holiday Ale Festival
So Mandy and I decided it would be a great idea to attend the Brewers Brunch on the Sunday of the Holiday Ale Festival. It turned out to be a very awesome idea.  The theme was a belgian brunch with a European style assortment of food. This was an awesome idea! The variety of items was really great. Fresh fruit, pastries, croissant sandwiches, and charcuterie were all available on the...

Holiday Ale Festival 2010 #haf
Today we head out to the Holiday Ale Festival. I’m hoping to try some very awesome beers while staying sober enough to find my bus back home. With 10 tickets and all the beers being high octane this could be a challenge. Maybe we will see some Portland peeps out there!  Our strategy: go early! If you wait until after 3pm it’s too packed to move inside the tent. Bring water: essential...

Hardened Carnivores
As those of you who have read us in the past will know, we’ve been on an ill fated mission to go to Olympic Provisions for months now.  Cheese bar teased us with their chorizo.  They were closed on Sundays forcing us to find sub par charcuterie elsewhere. Imagine how shocked and completely stoked we were when our aborted attempt to eat at Meat Cheese Bread led us to finally acheiving our goal....

Fancy wineries and snow! Part 2
After the fancy pants places we had to try a new place we knew nothing about. So nearby there happened to be the White Rose Winery.  The White Rose space is interesting. It’s a dungeon like room with no windows and painted black. The dude manning the place said it was to help people focus on the wine. Speaking of the wine, it was okay. We were quite a few wineries in (#4) and may have been...

Cheap tickets and spensive beers
Jessi and I both signed up for the “Groupon” email for Portland and so far have had a really good time with some great deals.  (Does that sound like I’m fishing for sponsorship?)   The most recent would be the half price tickets to a Winterhawks hockey game at the Rose Garden Arena.   My most recent experience with hockey was watching the US team during the winter Olympics this year.  While I do...
